Vietnamese President lauds victory over terror

Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet highly appreciated and lauded the bravery and bold steps taken by President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Sri Lankan Security Forces to defeat LTTE terrorism. He commended the well orchestrated democratic humanitarian mission to rescue the innocent civilians held hostage by the LTTE.

Warm welcome for President in Vietnam

President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived on a three day official visit to Vietnam yesterday on the invitation of the Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet a historic step in the relations between Sri Lanka and Vietnam. The Presidential entourage reached Noibai International Airport yesterday, a press release from the President’s Media Division said.

Over 41,000 IDPs resettled

The resettlement of the largest number of Internally Displaced Persons of the North took place yesterday, with 41,685 persons resettled in Vavuniya, Mannar, Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi, resettled in 108 Grama Niladhari Divisions of these districts.

President writes to IDP families

President Mahinda Rajapaksa in an emotional letter written in Tamil to each family of the internally displaced persons who were resettled in their original dwellings yesterday, wished them every success and the choices blessings for the future “with your dreams of success coming true when we can all live together as members of a single family in our motherland”.
