Tender for construction of Ja-Ela Ekala and Kandana Water Supply Scheme

The Cabinet has approved to a memorandum submitted by Water Supply and Drainage Minister A.L.M Athaullah to award the tender for construction of Ja-Ela Ekala and Kandana Water Supply cheme to M/s Nagarjuna & Sierra construction JV. 

The amount of this project is JPY 504,988,271.03 and LKR 1,376,528,966.09 plus VAT and other Government approved Taxes and Duties.

Town North of Colombo Water Supply Project stage 11 is being implemented with loan provided by the of Japanese Government International Co-operation Agency (JICA).

The implementation of the Eastern and North Central Provincial Road Project

The Cabinet has approved to a memorandum submitted by Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Janaka Bandara Thennakoon to implement the Eastern and North Central Provincial road project in North Central and Eastern Province with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank under the supervision and co-ordination Local Government and Provincial Councils Ministry.

Implementation of 2010 Budget Proposals Establishment of Wayamba Cultural Quadrangle

The Cabinet has approved to a memorandum submitted by Cultural Affairs and National Heritage Minister Mahinda Yapa Abewardana to launch the five year conseravation project of Wayambe Quadrangle of which the estimated cost is Rs. 445mn through the Central Fund as a locally funded project and also to obtain Rs. 83.43mn, from the General Treasury for the year 2010 to initiate conserving and maintenance activities to be carried out at the zones of Panduwasnuwara and Yapahuwa.

The Cabinet has approved to a memorandum submitted by Water Supply and Drainage Minister A.L.M Athaullah to award the tender for construction of Mahara and Biyagama Water Supply Scheme to M/s Nagarjuna & Sierra construction JV.

Provision of Transport Facilities to Local Authorities in the Northern Province under the "Uthuru Wasanthaya" Program

The Cabinet has approved to a memorandum submitted by Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon to Purchase 25 single cabs for 25 Local Authorities in the Northern Province utilizing Rs.37.5 million under the Northern Province Accelerated Development Program launched by the Government

Establishment of Sports Infrastructure Facilities Development and Management Authority

The Cabinet has approval to a memorandum submitted by Sports and Public Recreation Minister Gamini Lokuge to establish the Sport Infrastructure Facilities Development and Management Authority for the Construction, maintenance and management of all the aforesaid Sports Stadiums and the National level Sports Stadiums and Sports Infrastructure Facilities envisaged to be constructed in future at a high standard .

The Draft Bill to establish a National Commission on Women

The Cabinet has approval to a memorandum submitted by Child Development and Women's Empowerment Minister to submit the draft of the National Women's Commission bill aimed at enhancing the powers of the present National Committee on women with the objective of safeguarding the Sri Lanka women, to the parliament, and publish in the Gazette.

Development of the District Hospital Beliatta as a specialized Maternal and Children Hospital

The Cabinet has approved to a memorandum submitted by Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Sripala de Silva to develop the District Hospital, Beliatta as a specialized Maternity and Children Hospital too.

Allocation of land at Battaramulla to the Khemadasa Foundations

The Cabinet has approvedl to a memorandum submitted by Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunewardena to allocate the identified 20 perches block of land at Nagahamulla Road Battaramulla to the Khemadasa Foundation for a period of 30 years on an annual rental of 0.5% of the present market value of the land to be determined by the Chief Valuer.

Development of playground at Makuluduwa, Pilliyandala, Kesbawa Urban Council Area

The Cabinet has approved to a memorandum submitted by Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister and Sports and Public Recreation Minister Gamini Lokuge to acquire the land identified for the development of Playground, to develop the land for a public play ground to meet stands of the Ministry of Sports and Public Recreation and to assign Urban Development Authority the project management work during construction stage and hand over completed project to Kesbewa Urban Council for operation and maintenance.

Beliatta Grid Substation Project-Lot A , Construction of Beliatta Grid Substation Project

The Cabinet has approved to a memorandum submitted by Power and Energy Minister W.D.J Seneviratne to accept the recommendation of the CAPC and to award the bid for the construction of Lot- A Beliatta Grid Substation Project to the lowest substantially responsive bidder, M/s Pestech SDN BHD Malaysia for a evaluated cost of Euro. 4,731,336.00 and SL Rs.89,332,953.03 equivalent to total cost of SL Rs. 819,472,724.55
