School text books for Vanni, Madu and Mannar

The Education Ministry has taken action to dispatch the required school text books worth Rs. 25 million for the 2010 academic year for students housed in welfare villages in Vavuniya, Mannar and Madu area.

This is to provide maximum facilities for educational activities for schoolchildren whose education has been badly affected by LTTE terrorism. The consignment of text books has already been sent to these areas in 38 lorries, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

The Education Ministry had earlier sent text books for schools in Jaffna and the Eastern province.

These books are being distributed to Zonal Education Offices under the supervision of Education Ministry and the Provincial Education Departments.
