India, China sign climate change deal
India: The Indian and Chinese Governments agreed Wednesday to
strengthen bilateral cooperation in the face of climate change and
ratified their common stand in the forthcoming world conference on the
issue.
There are no differences between our positions when talking about
international treaties on climate, assured Indian Minister of
Environment Jairam Ramesh after signing the memorandum.The document was
ratified by Chinese Vice Minister in charge of the National Commission
of Development and Reform and Highest representative of the Asian
country in Climate Change Forums Xie Zhenhua.
In the bilateral aspect the agreement establishes increase of
collaboration in energy efficiency, use of renewable sources of energy
and in sustainable agriculture with the objective to reduce gas emission
causing greenhouse effect.
India and China, considered the most pollutant countries of the
world, considered the developed world must comply with their commitment
of delivering funds and transferring technology to the developing
countries to make them reduce gas emission.
The Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh previously warned that
reductions from the industrialized powers threaten the economic progress
