The Government yesterday dispatched 40 metric tons of essential relief items to the trapped civilians in Mullaitivu on the direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The consignment was dispatched through the sea route.

Troops enter Puthukuduyiruppu West

The Security Forces engaged in the final battle against the LTTE , yesterday entered Puthukuduyiruppu West area confining the LTTE to less than 80 square kilometre area whilst all top level Tiger leaders were making desperate attempts to stop the troops advance towards Puthukuduyiruppu, military sources told the Daily News yesterday.

The tug-of-war between the Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan and the UPFA Parliamentarian Vinyagamoorthy Muralitharan seems to be intensifying. with majority of TMVPers in the line to take SLFP membership, Vinyagamoorthy Muralitharan, MP said that their main intention was to strengthen the hands of President Mahinda Rajapaksa who can solve the national problem soon.

SEC promotes day trading - cuts transaction costs

Important mechanism to provide liquidity:

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) is in the process of reducing transaction costs by 30 per cent for day trading activities in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).
