Indian Govt committed to assist SL - HC

Indian High Commissioner Alok Prasad accompanied by a team of High
Commission officials visited Ampara district on Monday on a fact finding
tour to observe the massive development work undertaken by the
Government in the Eastern Province where democracy has been established
after its liberation from LTTE clutches.
The High Commissioner and his team attended a meeting at the Ampara
District Secretariat later in the evening where Ampara District
Secretary Sunil Kannangara explained the development activities
undertaken in the district in detail.
The Indian High Commissioner later speaking to journalists said the
Indian Government is committed to assist Sri Lanka in its development
effort. They visited the East to gain a first hand view of the current
situation and find out avenues which needed Indian support and
assistance.
He said his delegation was pleased with the ongoing development work
in the East and assured continued Indian support for the Government in
future.
