IDP varsity students sent to Jaffna

Six university students who were among the civilians who crossed over to the Government-held areas were referred back to Jaffna University, it is reported.

Necessary requirements such as, stationery, clothes, etc. were provided to them along with a ticket to sail for Jaffna.

In addition, each student was given Rs. 10,000 for expenses, by Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Minister Rishard Bathiudeen.

At the send off held at Vavuniya Kachcheri, the Minister said that every attempt would be made to enable the students to continue their education without being disrupted.

The Minister during his recent inspection of Menik Farm and Nelumkulam refugee camps had come to know about the plight of the six students, it was observed.
