More development projects for plantation workers

Youth Empowerment and Socio Economic Development Minister and General Secretary of Ceylon Workers Congress Arumugam Thondaman has decided to uplift the living conditions of the plantation workers launching a series of development projects.

The Government has allocated Rs. 434 million to the Ministry this year to lead the underprivileged plantation community on a progressive path.

Education, water supply, concreting of roads and pavements, school building construction, vocational training, school projects, common activities, play ground, health and sanitary facilities, self employment will be provided. Housing, and computer facilities will also be provided through the Ministry. Identity cards will be issued to the estate community.
