Army captures Mullaitivu

The Security Forces now engaged in the final battle against the LTTE in the Mullaitivu district achieved one of the major victories yesterday after 59 Division troops under the command of Brigadier Nandana Udawatta captured Mullaitivu, the LTTE’s most prestigious military stronghold in the Eastern coast by yesterday afternoon, military officials told the Daily News yesterday.

Nation pays tribute to war heroes - President

The entire nation, from the ‘Line Rooms’ to the luxurious mansions were paying their greatest and heart-felt tributes to the war heroes who have fought relentlessly to eradicate terrorism from our motherland, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the second triumphant rally at Norwood playgrounds in Kotagala yesterday, in support of the UPFA candidates contesting the forthcoming Wayamba and Central Province Provincial Council elections to be held on February 14.
