Patriotic people will support UPFA

All Sri Lankans who admire freedom, peace, and harmony should extend their fullest co-operation to President Mahinda Rajapaksa as he is doing his utmost to defeat terrorism successfully and to bring peace to Sri Lanka, said W.M. Ariyaratne, President, Kurunegala District School Principals Association.

He was addressing a meeting attended by School Principals at the Kurunegala Town Hall on January 18.

Ariyaratne said it is high time for people to differentiate between traitors and patriots of our Motherland and people should directly look down upon such traitors by casting their votes against them during the forthcoming elections.

He said real patriots should be admired genuinely and we should not look at them from a political angle.

All Sri Lankans should select their people’s representatives of local bodies after judging their candid commitment towards the betterment of the country and its people.

Ariyaratne said many unpatriotic political leaders have no feeling towards our brave war heroes and they pretend to be patriots in order to gain the mandate of the people to win elections.

He said President Mahinda Rajapaksa who took bold decisions to liberate our Motherland from brutal terrorism has now planned to carry out development projects in the East and North as the innocent civilians of these areas have been suffering drastically for 30 years due to brutal activities of the LTTE.

All Government servants should be grateful and supportive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and public servants should not demand undue privileges and salary increases at this crucial juncture of our country’s future.

K.M. Jayashantha, Secretary of the Association offered his thanks to the school Principals who attended the meeting and extended their fullest co-operation to bring good results at public examinations during last two years.

He requested all school Principals to make every effort to show good results at public examinations such as Grade Five Scholarship Examination, GCE (O/L) and GCE (A/L) Examinations this year as the Ministry of Education of the NWP-PC has introduced a very comprehensive programme to increase the students’ results at public exams and these programmes are to be implemented in collaboration with parents’ societies and past students’ associations, and voluntary organisations in their respective areas.
