We must look after families of war heroes - Army Seva Vanitha Movement President

“The total defeat of LTTE terrorism and the dawning of peace in our country are close at hand. I am proud of my husband Army Commander Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka who along with our brave Security Forces are dedicated to eradicating terrorism once and for all,” said Army Seva Vanitha Movement President and wife of Army Commander Sarath Fonseka, Anoma Fonseka.

She was addressing a gathering of war hero families at the auditorium of the Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Temple in Anuradhapura to hand over educational equipment and cash donations worth Rs. one million to children of war heroes.

President of the Yuki Nippon Company Dhammika Aluthgedara as a tribute to our war heroes has made the donation.

Anoma Fonseka said that the entire nation salutes our war heroes for their gallantry and sacrifices in rescuing the country from the clutches of terrorism. We are truly proud of them.

“I appeal to all patriotic citizens living in Sri Lanka and in abroad to contribute to the welfare of the families of the war heroes and specially to their children in housing, education, sanitation, health and in promoting their living standards, as such acts would boost their morale”, she said.

“The country is today blessed with a fearless and dynamic leadership, gallant Service Commanders and a very strong Defence Secretary which has led to the eradication of the LTTE terrorism. The war heroes have taught the whole world the way the terrorism could be eliminated by humanitarian means without resorting to warfare,” said Ven. Nugethenne Pagnananda Nayake Thera Chief Sanganayake of the Nuwara Kalaviya and the Chief Incumbent of Sri Sambodhi Jayanthi Viharaya, Anuradhapura in his anusasana.

Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thera, Ven. Ethalawetunawewa Gnanatileka Nayaka Thera, Chief Incumbents of Ruwanweli and Mirisawetiya Temples respectively, North Central Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake, Vanni Commander Major General Jagath Jayasooriya, Army Media Consultant Sisira Wijesinghe Philanthropist Dhammika Aluthgedera and several others were also present.
