Abortive Tiger air raid on Kelanitissa

COLOMBO:The air defence system in Colombo and suburbs was activated last night and the electricity supply to the city was suspended as a precautionary measure after a suspected Tiger aircraft dropped two bombs targeting the Kelanitissa power station.

Troops sever Tiger links to Nachchikuda

Nachchikuda: Troops attached to 58 Division in the north of Nachchikuda yesterday captured two strategically important junctions on the 12th and 16th mile posts on the Mannar-Pooneryn A-32 road, cutting off LTTE links with the now isolated Nachchikuda with Sea Tiger base in Vallaipadu, Military sources told the Daily News last night.

LOLC ventures into microfinance

Lanka ORIX Leasing Company PLC (LOLC), signed an agreement with the Dutch Development Bank FMO in Netherlands to launch LOLC Micro Finance Company Ltd.
