Gunfire damages doctor’s car

A doctor’s car was shot and damaged by an unknown suspect on Monday night at the doctors car park in Hambantota.

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera Dr. Kapila Chamara Wannige who was to get married to another doctor on October 31 in Hambantota received several calls threatening him.

“His would-be bride has also received many calls asking her not to marry him,” he added.

When Dr. Wannige parked his car at the doctors car park on Sunday, his car’s front door was shot at and a cartridge was found on the front seat of the car. “Dr. Wannige was not in the car when the car was shot and no harm was reported to the doctor,” SSP Gunasekera said.
