Climate healthy for investment:

According to Department of Census and Statistics the rate of inflation as measured by the point-to-point change in Colombo Consumers’ Price Index (CCPI) (2002=100), dropped to 0.9 percent in June 2009.

Gang disrupts garbage dumping

CMC in a quandary:

Heaps of garbage were piling up again in different places in the city of Colombo as the Colombo Municipal Council had not collected garbage for the last few days because of an organized gang’s work at the Kollonnawa dumping site, Director Solid Waste CMC Thangamyl told the Daily News yesterday (29).

BOI signs agreement with Chinese conglomerate:

Chinese Economic Zone to be set up at Mirigama

The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) signed an agreement yesterday with Chinese conglomerate Huichen Investment (Holdings) (Pvt) Ltd., to set up and manage a dedicated Chinese Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Mirigama.
