Royal College honours its war heroes
Today Royal College will honour a gallant and brave breed of men, who
were privileged to learn of books and men by walking the path that leads
to mans estate through the hallowed portals of Royal.
These men were the heroes of our times, who took upon them the Noble
and Herculean task of saving Sri Lanka from the cultches of terrorism.
They gave every thing; even their precious lives and today they are free
from the burden they carried, knowing that the mission is accomplished.
The commemoration ceremony for the old Royalists killed in action
will precede by a ceremonial parade led by the Royal College Cadet band,
Cadet Contingent and the Air Cadets. Accompanying them will be the next
of kin of the fallen old Royalists and the Royalists in the active
services of the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and the Civil
Defence Force.
Floral Tributes would be laid at the Royal College War memorial by
the chief guest. President's Secretary Lalith Weeratunga, followed by
the Principal, Secretary of the Royal College Union, The Secretary of
the School Development Society. Senior-most officers in the Armed
Forces, the next of kin of fallen comrades and the students of Royal
College.
Felicitation Ceremony for the service personnel who are on active
duty of the tri forces, police and civil defence force will follow the
commemoration ceremony.
