A tribute to President from the Sri Lanka Sharia Council

The Sri Lanka Sharia Council whole heartedly congratulates and pays tribute to President Mahinda Rajapaksa for his selfless, commitment, courage, dedication, valiant and tireless efforts by providing leadership and profound direction to the gallant heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the sovereignty and national integrity of our beautiful Motherland.

This great victory over 30 years old terrorism in this beautiful and peaceful island demonstrates the true capacities of our President, Defence Secretary and the Armed Forces in all ranks.

Our President’s sagacious leadership, wise approach, humanity, patience and far-sighted decisions have created a conductive environment towards a new era for all citizens irrespective of race, religion, language, ethnicity or any other such differences, to live in peace and harmony with dignity and pride.

As a country motivated by highly regarded religious beliefs such as Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Christianity we must rally round to ensure quality of life for all Sri Lankans improving on a sustainable basis and to eradicate the cause of division and friction in Sri Lankan society that would hamper our progress and development.

This is the right occasion to extend our support and Co-operation to our President to find a solution to the remaining problems and undertake the responsible task of rebuilding the Motherland.

We keep faith on the abilities and courage of our President, that the country will reach a reasonable and fair political solution for decade long national problems without leaving room for bloodshed again in this little island or to create divisions.

The recent statement of our President which earned international reputation gives us courage and hope, “There is only one nation in this country and no minorities”.

Today, we are proud to be the people of a country totally free of terror and united under one flag. Freedom flutters all over the territory displaying its dignity from Devundara to Point Pedro and from Colombo to Sangamankanda.

Under the supreme guidance of our President Mahinda Rajapaksa, our valliant soldiers have done what the whole world through to be impossible.

This would go down in the world military history as the occasion on which the firstever Armed Forces in the world succeeded in annihilating terrorism from its soil.

On this jubilant occasion, we fervently and most respectfully appeal to all parties to join hands with the Government to support the nation building program and to bring everlasting peace.

The name of our President will be scripted in gold as a great hero who had the courage to free the country from the clutch of terrorism.

Terrorism eradicated, blood shedding ended, war clouds disappeared, boundaries demolished, freedom spread. No fear, no tear. nation came under one flag. Now we are children of Mother Lanka.

Let’s step forward to pave the way for a bright future filled with everlasting peace, prosperity and happiness.

Long live our President Mahinda Rajapaksa who freed the country from the brutal LTTE grip.
