Fire in Knuckles reservation

A fire broke out in the Knuckles mountainous reservation on June 29.
This fire is reported to have destroyed 40 acres of the forest said the
Range Forest Officer D.K.B. Wattegedara. The officer said putting down
the fire by night was difficult, but they had taken action to control
the fire. They would have set fire for no reason, but for pleasure, he
said further.
The Secretary of the Dumbara Surakinno Salinda Dissanayake lamented
the loss of 100 acres of the forest.
