The 58 and the 53 Divisions cleared their paths towards the remaining five km stretch of the No Fire Zone after 53 Division stormed another heavily fortified earthbund built across the Paranthan-Mullaitivu A-35 road after close quarter fighting that continued for long in the early hours of yesterday, military officials told the Daily News yesterday.

New WPC Chief Minister takes oaths today

Prasanna Ranatunge, who obtained the highest number of preferential votes for the winners - the UPFA at the Western Provincial Council polls, will take oaths before President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat today as the new Chief Minister of the Western Province.

Triad gets first ever Chillies Grand Prix : Triad won the first ever much anticipated Grand Prix award at the Chillies 2009 which is the first time that the Chillies has awarded a Grand Prix, that gives recognition of the Best of the Best work. Triad’s haul of the night included the award for the ‘Best Campaign of the Year’ together with two Golds, six Silvers, 11 Bronzes and 14 finalist awards.
