More funds for rural development
During the last three decades most of the roads bordering uncleared
villages in Anuradhapura and Polonnoruwa districts were abandoned and
not maintained properly due to the frequent LTTE terrorist attacks.
Today our troops are triumphantly and gaining our lands back from the
grip of the LTTE under the fearless leadership of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa, said Punchi Banda Ratnayake the North Central Provincial Road
Development Minister after inauguration of the rehabilitation work of
Pin Para rural road in Minneriya at a cost of Rs. 12 million.
The project comes under the series of road development projects as a
tribute to the 25 years political life of the Agriculture Development
and Agrarian Services Minister and the Secretary General of SLFP
Maithripala Sirisena.
The Provincial Minister said once the war is over the Government
would be able to grant more funds to the Provincial Councils to upgrade
the infrastructure facilities, including road development. He said
rehabilitation work of Yakkure-Manampitiya main rural road was in
progress at a cost of Rs. 150 million.
Once the road has been constructed the people in Yakkure and suburbs
could arrive at Manampitiya by travelling 15 kilometres instead of
present 70 kilometres thus saving their time, money and the energy. |
