Rural road project begins in June

The massive rural roads rehabilitation project in the North Central
Province funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be inaugurated
next June.
The ADB has agreed to grant a loan facility of Rs. 7,000 million to
the North Central Provincial Road Development Authority.
ADB project office Engineer K.M.L.J. Chandrasiri told the Daily News
that foreign and local tenders for the rehabilitation of 24 main rural
roads to the length of 275 kilometres and the construction of six major
bridges will close on May 4. General Manager of PRDA, Senarath
Pushpakumara said the dilapidated roads are located in Maradankadawala,
Minneriya, Horowpathana Nochchiyagama Executive Engineers' divisions.
"We intend to commence the five year development project with the
commissioning of construction work of
Gonapathirawa-Senapura-Kagama-Akkara 500 main rural road, which is 13
kilometres in length. |
