World Bank to fund power

The World Bank has assured the Government that it would provide funding for power projects under an International Development Agency credit line if the Government prepare a viable development plan, Finance Minister K. N. Choksy told the Daily News yesterday.

President on the deproscription of the LTTE

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga understands Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's position that deproscription of the LTTE requires deep thought and she recognises that the totality of issues involved in the peace process should be taken into account, Presidential spokesman Harim Peiris told the Daily News yesterday.
