Rs 26,000 m electricity subsidy
granted to over 3 m families -
CEB Chairman
Although the
government provides an electricity
subsidy of Rs 26,000 million for
over three million families in the
country, the government under the
leadership of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa has decided to provide
electricity even to the most
underprivileged family in the
country before long, though the
decision greatly increases the CEB’s
expenditure, said CEB Chairman W B

Airport awarded International
Airport Certification
President
Mahinda Rajapaksa will commission
Mattala Rajapaksa International
Airport on March 18. This is the
second International Airport in Sri
Lanka and the first ever Sri Lankan
International Airport to be operated
as an International Airport ‘from
the day of commencing operations’,
Civil Aviation Minister Priyankara

Walallawita Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Udeni Atukorala was arrested by Bribery Commission officials for allegedly soliciting a Rs 1.5 million bribe from the Bentara Paradeshiya Sabha chairman. It is reported that he had accepted the bribe to provide a permit to transport soil.
