Equal opportunities for all, President’s wish - Minister

The fervent wish of President Mahinda Rajapaksa is that all Lankans,
especially children be given equal opportunities, to make the country
the “Wonder of Asia”, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development
Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said.
“Sri Lanka today is on a fast track towards development after
defeating terrorism which plagued the country for three decades,” he
said.
The minister was speaking after opening the newly renovated road
system in Beruwela. Four roads in Beruwela were renovated through this
project at a cost of Rs. four million.
“As a nation which defeated terrorism, we now face various
conspiracies hatched by local and foreign elements. Therefore, we should
all unite to defeat these conspiracies in the same manner as we
destroying terrorism,” he added.
“We must join forces in the effort to making Sri Lanka a developed
country, forgetting petty differences,” he said.
“Politicians who are public representatives have to serve the public
in a productive manner by garnering public support to boost the
development process,” Minister Senaratne said.
“A number of development programmes are to be launched in Beruwela
under the guidance of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
A special programme has already been implemented to develop the
Beruwela city as a tourist town and the results of that programme can be
experienced in the near future,” he added.
Beruwela Provincial Council Members Sumith Lal Medis and Nevil
Ranjith were also present.
