SL's per capita income to reach US $ 4,400 in 2015

Sri Lanka would increase its per capita income from the current US $ 2,399 in 2012 to US $ 4,400 in 2015. The country would also develop fast and would have a growth rate of around 9% during the period said Dr. T. Lalitha Gunaruwan, Senior Lecturer (Economics), University of Colombo, Speaking at the 'Railways for Our Future' seminar organized by the Institute of Supply and Material Management (ISMM) at the OPA Auditorium he said that the demand for logistics and transport would experience enormous pressure. Doubling of per-capita income by 2015 will lead to parallel increase of value of time.

Hambantota Port gearing to handle automobile carriers in June

As an effective measure to ease the long berthing delays experienced by Roll on Roll off vessels at the Port of Colombo, SLPA has decided to route all such vessels to the Magam Ruhunupura Mahinda Rajapaksa Port with effect from May 31, 2012 with consultation of shipping lines and importers.

Trincomalee Industrial Zone :

Government sets investor proposal deadline

Deadline for submitting investor proposals for the establishment of new business ventures at the industrial park of Trincomalee Port City Development project has been set for May10. A top Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) official speaking to Daily NewsBusiness said that 30 investors have so far submitted project proposals to SLPA in various investment areas such as ship repairs, fertilizer and cement manufacturing and most of the applications have been submitted by local companies with foreign collaboration.

Cairn Energy India Pty Limited (CEIL), wholly owned subsidiary of Cairn India Limited (CIL) has notified the Management Committee of an oil discovery in the Nagayalanka-SE-1 well, in the onshore block KG-ONN-2003/1, in the Krishna-Godavari Basin on the east coast of India. The company has a world-class resource base, with interest in nine blocks in India and one in Sri Lanka.
