Patient Shane Watson helps Aussies take upper hand in Second
Test
Shane Watson hit a patient half-century as
Australia reached 208 for five on the first day of the second Test
against West Indies on a slow Queen's Park Oval pitch. Mike Hussey,
on 26, and Matthew Wade, with 11, were unbeaten at the close,
putting on a useful 30-run partnership after both men had survived
dropped catches.

Record number of entries for Nuwara Eliya Road Races
One hundred and fifteen racing drivers and
riders will be seen in action at the annual Nuwara Eliya road race
2012 revived after a lapse of three years and organized by the Sri
Lanka Motor Cycle Club which will be worked off in Nuwara Eliya on
Thursday, April 19 commencing at 8 am. The official practices for
grid positions will be held on the previous day commencing at 1.30
pm.

Ananda – 50 years of racing at Mahagastota
Veteran racing driver Ananda de Alwis
successfully completed his 50th year of racing at the Mahagastota
Speed Hill Climb organized by the Ceylon Motor Sports Club and
worked off at the Mahagastota division of Pedro Group recently. He
did two fine runs in his 35 year old Ford Mexico to the applause of
the motor racing fans. He timed 50.082 seconds in the first run and
50.724 in the second to finish third.
