RARE HISTORY BOOKS
Five books of history with rare facts extracted from Ola leaves were handed over to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees. Here, Editor Prof. Gananath Obeysekera hands over the books to the President. Bradman Weerakoon, Former Secretary to the President, Co-editors Nandana Weerarathna, Ananda Tissa Kumara and the Publisher were also present. The book titled Christian Convention authored by Ven. Bentota Aththadassi Thera has been written before 1849 and the other four books belonged to the category of Vanni literature. The President on receiving these rare books pledged to initiate action to obtained permission from the British Government for perusal of our rare books deposited in the British Museum. He also promised to make funds available for the preparation of a list of such important books presently available in our temples.
