Post offices provide insurance facilities

COLOMBO: The Sri Lanka Insurance has made arrangements to provide insurance services to public through post offices islandwide from today.

Post offices will accept applications for fire, theft and accident insurance initially from today and a variety of services will follow with the passage of time.

Sri Lanka Insurance Director Daemon Fernando told the Daily News the company has decided to reach the Postal service to implement the new plan of canvassing for insurance at the grassroots level as they have access to people of all classes.

"We have given initial training to the Post Masters in this respect", he said.

In our country, we have 4,041 Post Offices serving the community at the grassroots level.
