Kingsley meets EU President

VIENNA: Southern Province Governor Kingsley T. Wickramaratne met Austrian Foreign Affairs and current European Union President Dr. Ursala Plassnik at the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Vienna, recently.

The Governor presented a brass plaque in appreciation of volunteer humanitarian services rendered by Austria under the direction of Dr. Ursala Plassnik, following the tsunami disaster.

The most effective relief and rehabilitation services rendered to Sri Lanka after the devastating tsunami were from the Austrian Government, NGOs, Kureir Aid and the Red Cross of Austria.

Dr. Plassnik will open the Ruhunu-Austria University of Tourism and Hotel Management in Koggala, Galle, funded by the Austrian Government in early July.

The programme was coordinated by Sri Lankan Ambassador in Vienna Aruni Wijewardana.
