Persuade LTTE to come for talks

- Ministers' Secys Union

COLOMBO:Since the European Union has banned the LTTE as a terrorist organisation in contrast to the LTTE's claim of representing the Tamil's rights, now is the appropriate time for the Tamil people, certain NGOs and media institutions to open their eyes and see the LTTE in their proper guise and persuade the LTTE to come to the negotiating table, states a media release by the Ministers' Secretaries Union.

Any country or organization takes the decision to list an organisation as a terrorist organisation only after meticulous scrutiny. The harvest the LTTE has reaped is the seeds of their own sowing. LTTE is a Fascist terrorist organisation who trusted only arms and ammunition and who attributed divinity to the cyanide capsule.

They unleashed terror and violence in the most brutal manner on the masses over a period of three decades claiming themselves to be liberators of the Tamil people. Tamils no longer should follow the LTTE blindly, the media release explained.

It appealed to the Tamil intelligentsia and the social workers as well as the entire masses in general to renounce the greed for dollars, perks and other privileges and come forward to discharge the supreme responsibility of bringing the LTTE to the negotiating table in order to ensure peace and harmony.
