Re-prints of five historical texts presented to President

COLOMBO: The re-prints of five historical texts edited by Professor Gananatha Obeysekera, Head of the Faculty of Anthropology, Princeton University of America was presented to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday. They were reproduced under the Rear Historical Texts Re-print Project.

The former President's Secretary Bradman Weerakoon, Volume Editors Nandana Weeraratne and Ananda Tissakumara and Publisher S. Godage were present on the occasion.

The books reprinted included "Reply to Christian Charter" written by the late Ven. Bentota Atthadassi Thera in 1849, prior to the famous "Panadura Vaadaya". This is a reproduction of the only copy that is available in Sri Lanka today. The other four books reprinted belonged to the Vanni Literary Volumes.

AIS art exhibition

COLOMBO: Students of Asian International School will hold their annual art exhibition at the Lionel Wendt Gallery on Thursday June 1 and Friday, June 2 between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The chief guests will be Dominic and Nazreen Sansoni.

MORATUWA: "The tenth annual Get-together of the past pupils' fellowship (1936-1969 student group) of Methodist High School, Moratumulla, Moratuwa will be held on June 4 from 9.30 a.m. onwards at the Golden Carriage Hotel, Puran Appu Raja Mawatha, Moratuwa.


No entry to Arrival Lobby

KATUNAYAKE: Visitors will not be allowed in to the Arrival Lobby of the Bandaranaike International Airport at Katunayake to pick up passengers from June 2 until further notice owing to the development work being carried out at present.However, visitors can receive passengers at the Lobby outside, states a news release from the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd.

The three movies 'Cheaper by the Dozen 2' will be shown on June 2 at 7 p.m., 'When a Stranger Calls' will be shown on June 3 at 4 p.m. and 'Big Mama's House' will be shown on June 3 at 7 p.m.
