Mihintale Aloka Pooja organised by ANCL for 44th occasion from June
10-12
ANURADHAPURA: The Mihintale Aloka Pooja organised by Associated
Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (Lake House) for the 44th consecutive year will
be held at the Mihintale sacred area on June 10, 11 and 12.
Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake will switch on the Aloka
Pooja illuminations on June 10 at 6.30 p.m.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa will switch on the illuminations on Poson
Poya day June 11 at 6.30 p.m. and Anurdhapura GA, U.D. Yapa will switch
on the illuminations on the concluding day on June 12 at the same time.
A Mihindu Perahera will also be conducted at Mihintale on June 10
parallel to the Aloka Pooja.
Meanwhile Anurdhapura GA U.D. Yapa said bathing in the Nuwarawewa and
Tissa wewa will be prohibited during the Poson season as these two tanks
are the main sources of drinking water supply to the people in
Anuradhapura City.
People using alternative tanks and reservoirs for bathing should be
extremely careful as the water may be very deep as they are filled up to
the brim due to incessant rains. |
