'I was abducted by JHU leader' by Ranga Chandrarathne In a case filed yesterday by former Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) Member
of Parliament, Ven. Kathaluwe Rathanaseeha Thera in the Colombo District
Court seeking to restrain Ven. Akmeemana Dayarathana from acting as a
member of Parliament, he claims he was abducted from his temple by a group

witnessed recently inconveniencing the public and causing them hardship,
fear and anxiety. Committee to review cancelled appointments The President's Office states that the Government has appointed a
Committee of Officials to review the cases of appointments in statutory
bodies and Government Departments in the period between the dissolution of
Parliament and the General elections on April 2 unlike following December
2001 where no provision was made to review any of the cancelled
appointments. 2,000 fatal accidents last year by Bharatha Malawaraarachchi Two hundred and twenty children were killed in road accidents last
year. They were among the thousands of victims of nearly 2,000 fatal
accidents on the country's roads last year. "Every day at least five
to six fatal accidents occur," Secretary to the Ministry of Public
Security, Law and Order Thilak Ranaviraja revealed yesterday. Ethics and civic consciousness infused to curricula The Education Ministry will implement a special program aimed at
inculcating values, ethics and civic consciousness into the school system
