Kathaluwe Rathanaseeha Thera in the Colombo District Court seeking to restrain Ven. Akmeemana Dayarathana from acting as a member of Parliament, he claims he was abducted from his temple by a group of JHU monks including its leader. Ven. Kathaluwe Rathanaseeha Thera has cited Patalee Champika Ranawaka, Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha, Ven. Kolonnawe Sumangala, Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka and Ven. Akmeemana Dayarathana Theras as respondents. On April 24, 2004 the plaintiff and Ven. Aparekke Pagngnasekara Thera voted for the candidate proposed by the UPFA Government. On May 12, 2004, while the plaintiff was at the Moratuwa Sri Sambuddha Viharaya, the second, third and fourth respondents and the JHU leader had abducted him and forced him to sign some documents. In the presence of the second and the third respondents, the plaintiff states, that he had handed over the documents to Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara at his Chambers. The plaintiff further stated that he had also been detained at a house in Pelawatte. The plaintiff prayed for an order restraining the fifth respondent from acting as a Member of Parliament. |
