Damayanthi Darsha celebrates her victory in the women’s 400m final at the 14th Asian Games in Busan , yesterday. She won the gold medal with a time of 51.13 seconds and set a new Asian Games record. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday telephoned Damayanthi Darsha in Busan to congratulate her on her record-breaking achievement. “I rejoice with the people of Sri Lanka on this occasion where you have brought honour and glory to Sri Lanka” the Premier had told the athlete who won gold setting a new Asian Games record. PTA to be modified with amendments

The Government has decided not to repeal the Prevention of Terrorism Act , but is studying the possibility of modifying and amending certain clauses in it, Cabinet Spokesman Prof G.L. Peiris said.
