by Nadira Gunatilleke The Cultural Affairs Division of the Human Resources Development, Education and Cultural Affairs Ministry will set up `Rural Cultural Societies' at village level to support the ministrys' programme to establish a society with social ethics, morals and discipline, Ministry Additional Secretary K.K.W. Tillakasiri told the Daily News yesterday. He said the ministry has set up 64 cultural centres countrywide. Rural cultural societies will also be setup to expand activities of regional cultural centres. The societies will be set up associate to shrines whenever possible and will be linked with rural organisation activities set up by the Youth Affairs Ministry. The rural cultural centres are set up to strengthen ties between the rural society and the regional cultural centres and to offer a better service to the public through cultural centres, Tillakasiri added. |
