Police to hunt errant officers

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has directed the IGP to investigate 170 complaints made against Police officers following the alleged Police assault in Malabe and murders at Angulana.

The United People’s Freedom Alliance has finalised its nomination list for the upcoming Southern Provincial Council election. The lists of candidates will be presented to the Returning officers in Galle, Matara and Hambantota today.

Construction begins shortly

The Government will shortly commence construction work on the last stretch of the Southern Highway linking Galle and Matara. The project funded by the Chinese Government will cost US$ 160 million.

Chambers hail Sri Lanka’s stable rating

Sri Lanka’s rating outlook has been lifted from negative to stable by Standard and Poor. This will enable Sri Lanka to attract foreign direct investments and increase the confidence of local and foreign investors.
