More LTTE weapons recovered

Security Forces continuing search and mopping up operations in the liberated areas recovered a haul of weapons left behind the LTTE cadres in the Killinochchi district on Tuesday.

Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said the Task Force VIII conducting search and clearing operations in the Iranamadu area recovered a stock of arms on Tuesday morning.

Troops found four 120mm mortar bombs, 14 RPG rounds, 34 hand grenades, 30kg of C4 explosives, 18 of 60mm mortar bombs, 1,500 T56 ammunition and 250 explosive capsules.

The Task Force VIII also retrieved three micro pistols, four micro pistol magazines, 133 micro pistol ammunition, nine communication sets, a GPS, two cyanide capsules, five claymore mines, two 81mm mortar bombs, four T56 magazines, 102 T56 ammunition, a 130mm Arty Gun Barrel, two 60mm bombs and a 60mm fuse.

Troops of the 57 division launched a search operation in Vishvamadu area on Tuesday afternoon and found four APMs and six barrels of diesel.
