The Maha Sangha yesterday held a Satyagraha at the Vihara Maha Devi Park, Colombo, to protest against certain statements made by Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe. The organisers said they were protesting against Wickremesinghe’s statements that discredited the Maha Sangha and the Triple Gem.

COPE cases to Bribery Commission

Unanimous agreement by all parties in Parliament:

Parliament yesterday unanimously resolved to lodge a complaint at the Commission on the Investigation of Bribery or Corruption regarding corruption and mismanagement at 16 public institutions probed by the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE).

Environment and Natural Resources Minister Champika Ranawaka has called for an immediate report from the Wildlife Director General on the deaths of two baby elephants and a she elephant after colliding with a train in Kitul Uthuva.
