Probe into deaths of three wild jumbos

COLOMBO: Environment and Natural Resources Minister Champika Ranawaka has called for an immediate report from the Wildlife Director General on the deaths of two baby elephants and a she elephant after colliding with a train in Kitul Uthuva.

The Minister has asked him to name the Wildlife officers assigned to travel on the specific train. The Wildlife Director General has stated that the transport of wildlife officers in trains has been suspended due to security reasons.

Minister Ranawaka directed him to conduct a disciplinary inquiry against this wildlife officer.
