Minister assures help for Chunnakam development
CHUNNAKAM: A team of representatives from Chunnakam Urban
Development Committee met Minister of Social Services and Social Welfare
Douglas Devananda who is also the Chairman of Jaffna and Kilinochchi
District Development Committee to discuss development activities to be
launched in Chunnakam. A petition signed by more than thousand people in
this regard too was handed over to the Minister.
They had requested the Minister to take necessary steps for
re-erection of the Chunnakam Post Office which is more than hundred
years old and requested to allot additional land to the post office
premises.
They had also requested to handover the activities of the potable
water distribution which is now under the Water Supply and Drainage
Board back to the Pradeshiya Sabha. A request was made to issue a
commemorative stamp to remember late K. C. Nithyananda, who was a
prominent union leader.
Having accepted the written demands made by the Chunnakam Urban
Development Committee, the Minister said that he would direct his
attention to the matters raised there-in for discussion with the
relevant authorities. Regarding the Development of Chunnakam town he
said that he would bring it to the attention of the President. |
