BIMST-EC leaders build momentum towards free trade

Public will be kept informed of peace talks, final agreement - Ratnasiri

The final result of the peace talks will be fully communicated to the public, Public Security, Law and Order Minister and Deputy Defence Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake pledged yesterday. "The Government has no intention of hiding the progress of peace talks and the final settlement which both parties will agree upon will be communicated to the public," Deputy Minister said.

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga succeeded in obtaining employment for Sri Lankan academics such as engineers, scientists and English teachers in Thailand. This is subsequent to the President on an official visit to Thailand to attend the first BIMST-EC Summit, meeting Prime Minister Takshin Shinawatra at the Government House in Bangkok yesterday for a bilateral meeting.
