A total of 390 additional placements will be reserved for the above discipline in the Universities mentioned. The funding (recurrent and capital) required for this increased intake has been set aside by the Treasury.

Meanwhile, the plans to increase enrolment for Nursing BSc (Kelaniya), BSc in Environmental Conservation and Management, Engineering, Architecture and Design, Facility Management and Para medical disciplines in several Universities have already been prepared.

An additional 1495 students would be accommodated from the 2005 Advanced Level batch at a cost of Rs. 196 million.

A national plan to increase University enrolments (2004, 2005, 2006) is now being finalized by the University Grants Commission and a special committee appointed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Education in May 2004.
