A “Budu Sirasa”, bust of the Buddha, carved out of wood displayed at a wood carvings stall, was a major attraction among visitors to the “Mahaweli Trade Fair” at the Mahaweli Centre Grounds, Colombo recently. Here sculptors Upul Priyantha Alwis and Shiromi Lanka Alwis of Bakamuna, Polonnaruwa who laboured for 75 days to produce the masterpiece with the assistance of students attached to the National crafts council explain the intricate carving to two curious visitors. Monitoring Chiefs to press for release of servicemen : Action Plan for reintegration of child soldiers

The Head of Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission Gen. Trond Furuhovde and his successor Tryggve Tellefsen will take up the matter of releasing the Army soldier and the Police officer under the LTTE custody when they meet LTTE leadership in Kilinochchi tomorrow.
