Wettasinghe cheating case : CID forwards dossier to AG for advice

by Sarath Malalasekera

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probing a complaint made by Shirani Anoma Wettasinghe Dullewa alleging that her brother Ravi Wettasinghe cheated her for a sum of Rs. 3.5 million over shareholdings in Electro Holiday Resort (Pvt) Limited told the Colombo Additional Magistrate that they have completed the investigations and had forwarded the dossier of investigations to the Attorney General for his advice.

A number of cheques given by Ravi Wettasinghe to Dullewa are alleged to have bounced as there had not been sufficient funds to meet the cheques, her counsel told court.

After submissions by the CID and Counsel, the Additional Magistrate directed the CID to obtain instructions from the Attorney General and file a further report on May 8, 2003.
