Treasury releases Rs. 448 million for paddy purchase

The Finance Ministry will allocate the balance Rs. 448 million for paddy purchases during the 2003 Maha season which will be for February, March and April, a Finance Ministry news release said last night.

The total allocation for paddy purchases for the year 2003 has been Rs. 653.5 million. The Treasury has already allocated Rs. 205 million for the purpose.

The Finance Ministry has notified the Ministries of Irrigation and Water Resources Management and Commerce and Consumer Affairs to notify the District Secretaries of the paddy growing districts of their needs.
