by Sarath Malalasekera The Supreme Court yesterday issued notice on the Attorney General to appear before Court on April 1, 2003, and indicate what information was upon which Chairman National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) issued a search warrant on the premises of Nathalee Rodrigo and Mathew Kelly. The Bench comprised Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva PC, Justice Hector S. Yapa and Justice Nihal Jayasinghe. The application was supported in court by President's Counsel Daya Perera with Anuja Premaratne and Rasika Weeratunga. The Petitioner Bastian Koralage Anura Joseph Nathalee Rodrigo of Pamunugama, Wattala filed a Fundamental Rights application before the Supreme Court claiming compensation in a sum of Rs.10 Million from the National Child Protection Authority and five others, for the loss and damage suffered by him specially due to the respondents permitting the press to enter his residence and take and publish photographs of the search of his residence and that of Mathew Kelly. The Petitioner cited National Child Protection Authority, its Chairman, Prof. Harendra de Silva, B.W. Bopitigoda, N. Kadiragamar and M.K. Duminda Perera, all of The National Child Protection Authority and the Attorney General as respondents. |
