Absconding murderer sentenced to death
A suspect who had been sentenced to death in
absentia by the Kurunegala High Court on charges of murder of a
person at Wewegama in Kurunegala in 1991, was taken into custody by
the Kurunegala Special Crimes Investigation Bureau after twelve
years.

PS member remanded in cheating case
Bulathsinhala Pradeshiya Sabha UPFA member
Lakmini Anupama Panditharatne arrested by the Colombo Crime Division
in connection with a cheating case was remanded until June 26 by the
Matugama Magistrate. Police reported that Panditharatne was arrested
for being involved in an incident where Rs 400,000 had been obtained
from a woman in Govinna, on the pretext of securing a job in Korea
through a person called Ranjith Koralage.

Lankans remanded for killing in Oxford
Two men charged with the murder of Oxford farmer
Sameera Chandrasena in February have been remanded in custody for
post-committal conferences next month. Defence counsel for both men
have until July 2 to decide whether they will file oral evidence
applications, for a preliminary hearing of evidence ahead of a
trial.
