Dehiwala train blast kills eight

At least eight passengers, including four women, were killed when a LTTE parcel bomb exploded in a crowded office train near Dehiwala around 4.50 last afternoon.

Health Minister new WHO Chairman

Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva was appointed the new Chairman of the World Health Organisation. Representatives from 123 countries voted for him. Minister de Silva is the first South Asian to hold this post which is a special honour for Sri Lanka, Ministry sources said.

Serendib Flour Mill begins operations

US$ 56 m investment in Colombo Port:

Serendib Flour Mills, a member of the Al Ghurair Group of Companies, Dubai, UAE have a lot of plans to invest in Sri Lanka, its Chairman Essa Al Ghurair said. "When there is a cloud, which obstructs the sunlight it will go away. Uncertainties in Sri Lanka will also go away one day like that. Therefore, we have a lot of investment plans in Sri Lanka," Ghurair said.
