"When there is a cloud, which obstructs the sunlight it will go away. Uncertainties in Sri Lanka will also go away one day like that. Therefore, we have a lot of investment plans in Sri Lanka," Ghurair said.

He made these comments at a media conference to announce their investment plans and the launch of operations of their wheat mill.

He said yesterday's launch of its operation of their US $ 56 million state-of-the-art wheat flour mill in the Port of Colombo, promises an uninterrupted supply of the freshest wheat flour to Sri Lankan consumers and presence in the country. Minister of Investment Promotion and Enterprise Development Dr. Sarath Amunugama opened the new plant at the Colombo Port.

Currently it will produce 1000 metric tons per day and hope to produce 2000 metric tons in the future. This wheat flour is issued to consumers by " Seven Star" Brand. Their ultimate objective is to supply different varieties of wheat to the Sri Lankan market, he said. Flour will be available in the market from the first week of June.

Untouched by human hands, Seven Stars is produced from the most appropriate wheat sources from the golden wheat fields around the globe with the expertise of the experienced and qualified staff. Due to its strategic location in the Port of Colombo, the mill is in an enviable position to offer the freshest wheat flour to the Sri Lankan consumers and industry with an excellent customer service, he said.

Chairman Serendib Flour Mills (Pvt) Limited, Mahendra Amarasuriya said they enjoy the expertise of the best technical sales and services team in the country, together with a hand-picked team of sales and customer service personnel, all geared to serving and forging trust-based partnership with customers, he said.

Amarasuriya said that quality assurance, being one of the key factors behind the company's unsurpassed service and product excellence, Serendib Flour Mill also maintains a laboratory and modern test bakery where the quality is being carefully monitored.

CEO/Director of Serendib Flour Mills (Pvt) Ltd, Sathak Abdul Kadar said that the company was committed to making a change in the wheat flour market in Sri Lanka. As a reliable and serious corporate entity and an international giant which provides goods of international standards and consistent quality.

Serendib Flour mill is one of the leading flour manufacturers in the Middle East and other part of the countries in the world has factories in USA, Canada, Argentina, Kazakhstan and many other countries.

The company is comfortable despite the world food crisis in the world as they are mostly outsourcing their raw materials from many countries in the world, its sources said.
