JVP sliding towards destruction - JNP

There is a plan within the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) to oust the present leadership, Jathika Nidahas Peramuna (JNP) General Secretary MP Nandana Goonetilleke said.

He said the present leadership has been caught by a UNP trap. Addressing a news conference in Colombo, Goonetilleke said the JVP's slide towards destruction was being planned for a long time.

He said sections of the JVP were trying to oust all who had espoused ideological moves within the party.

"These elements don't want to protect the party. They want to destroy it. They have suppressed Somawansa Amarasinghe. They insisted on ousting Wimal Weerawansa. They will slowly make Amarasinghe an advisor and send him out of the country," he added.
